The Banwy Herd of Pedigree Simmentals was founded in 2004 and consists of  around 15 cows, which are run in conjunction with our Pedigree Aberdeen Angus and Simmental Cross Commercial herd's.

Simmental females have been purchased from society sales at Perth, together with herd dispersals and reductions. The most notable purchases have been from the Celtic, Corskie and Skerrington herds, and we have high hopes for our most recent purchases, Ben-Nant Veronica & Verity from the Ben-Nant reduction sale following a very successful show season for the Raymonds.

The Aberdeen Angus herd was introduced later, following the purchase of Blelack Excellent C753 at Perth, October 2005, for 6,200gns to introduce different breeding into the commercial herd. We were so impressed with Blelack Excellent C753, that we felt that it was a shame to just use him on the commercial cattle, and therefore at Perth in October 2005 we purchased two in-calf heifers from the Cardona Herd. There have been no further purchases to the Angus herd, with the two females producing two heifer calves each thus far which has enabled the herd to grow naturally.
